Adrienne Grace Delgado was born on November the 16th, 1977 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She would be born three months exactly before Elvis Presely's death, and so when she was three months old, her mother changed her middle name to Grace, after Graceland. Her father was an abusive man in every way possible, not just to her, but to her brothers and her mother as well. As a young girl she would write stories that no one payed any attention to, but people saw her as a bit morbid. However morbid her stories were, by the time she hit middle school she was writing almost full length novels, but she kept most of them hidden. The other kids at school pretty much thought she was a bit on the crazy side, but she had a few close knit friends. She was much better at being friends with most of her family, and got along very well with her brothers and sisters.
In high school, her English teacher decided to submit a copy of her story into a contest where she won first prize. Her prize was that her story was publicated in several small magazines. From then on she submitted a lot of her work into town newspapers and such. However she never had any of her stuff published, because writing novels wasn't what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. In 1996 however, when she was just 19, her brother killed himself which left a devestating hole in her and everyone else in the family. From then on, she put bits and pieces of her brother's personality, things she remembers into her writing. His legacy, and still trying to figure out what made him kill himself is something that Adrienne still tries to work out today. It was right before that, that she met Sidney Silvano, the only person in her life that she'd trust completely.
Adrienne went to the University of Louisiana and started writing screenplays that got shopped around some. She graduated with a degree in theater arts and when she graduated, decided to head to Los Angeles to really get started on her career. In 2001, she shopped "Six Feet Under", a television show that she had created, to many different companies, but it was HBO who decided to take her under their wing and after a lot of grueling work, "Six Feet Under" premiered on June 3, 2001. "Six Feet Under" lasted for five seasons, writing and producing most of the episodes herself. In her personal life, she was pretty quiet and didn't like to be in the lime light too much. Several times she was linked to both men and women, but nothing ever really stuck and she never came out of the closet (if she was in it to begin with).
While she was working on "Six Feet Under", she started to write another screenplay, which would turn into Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The movie would be released in 2004. She won some awards for that movie, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. About six years ago, Adrienne decided that she wanted a kid, and asked her long time friend Sidney to be the father. After her daughter Leah was born, she never really told anyone that Sidney was the father, since he was just the donor. However she has said that she would like another child one day. Most recently, Adrienne has decided to take the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris and turn them into a television show called "True Blood".
"True Blood" premiered in September 2008, in which Adrienne has made several changes to fit the audience HBO. She often tells people that the show isn't exactly like the books because it simply can't be. She also produces and writes and directs several episodes for that show, however she has also pulled in other writers for it as well. The third season started shooting in December and premiered in June, 2010. She has definitely decided to try for another season after this one, as long as the ratings don't drop. A couple of months ago, she finally told the world that Leah is in fact Sidney's and the two have recently moved in together. |
